Liverpool set for £56m transfer battle

Liverpool are set for a another scrap to keep hold of star striker Luis Suarez, with Real Madrid plotting a £56m move for his signature, according to reports from El Confidencial.

The Reds successfully saw off interest from the Spanish giants for the controversial forward last year, and have since handed him a new mega money contract – making him the club’s highest ever paid player.

But despite Suarez having indicated he is happy on Merseyside and said that he is relishing a Champions League campaign at Anfield, Real are ready to move once again in the coming months.

Los Blancos are believed to have made the Uruguayan their main target for the coming transfer window, as they look to provide Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale with a genuine world-class centre-forward to complete, arguably, the most fearsome possible attacking trio on the planet.

Real are ready to offer £56m for Suarez, and believe that this figure will trigger a clause in his deal to allow him to leave Liverpool.

The La Liga side may even attempt to lure the Reds into agreeing a deal by offering either Isco or Karim Benzema plus a reduced cash payment.
