Martin Skrtel will not be leaving Liverpool to join Napoli or any other club this summer, according to his agent.
The Slovakian enforcer has enjoyed a fine season at the heart of the Reds’ defensive line this term, playing a key role in their shock tilt for the Premier League title.
There were rumours that the rugged centre-back was set to leave Anfield last year after falling out of favour with Brendan Rodgers, but he is now considered to be a key man on Merseyside and has been praised publically on a number of occasions by his manager of late.
Despite this, speculation of a switch to Napoli to link up with former boss Rafa Benitez has persisted.
But Skrtel’s agent, Karol Csonto, says that the 29-year-old is not going anywhere:
“Skrtel will remain at Liverpool.” He is quoted by talkSPORT.
“There is no chance of Skrtel going to Napoli. His relationship with Rafa Benitez? There is nothing to add about this. What I can say is that Martin Skrtel will not go to Napoli.”
Skrtel was brought to Liverpool from Zenit Saint Petersburg by Benitez in 2008, and is believed to be a player that the Spaniard values highly.
