Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers has praised defender Glen Johnson and believes his flexibility has put him amongst the world’s best, according to Sky Sports.

In the past season Johnson has proved his versatility by switching to left back, oppose to his more natural right back position.

Brendan Rodgers has been particularly impressed with Johnson since he has taken over the helm this summer and hopes the player can produce more of the same:

"If there is a team of the season so far in the Premier League, then Glen would be in it.

"He's one of the best right-backs in the world playing on the left."

During Liverpool’s visit to Stamford Bridge last Sunday Johnson found himself pivotal to a formation shift from the manager, with Rodgers playing a 4-4-2 with the Englishman filling in at left back rather than favouring with his usual 3-5-2.

Liverpool managed to secure a 1-1 draw in West London, despite playing without Martin Skrtel who had to withdraw just before kick off with illnes and had to draft in Daniel Agger who is also was suffering with injury.
