Reports in Spain suggest Barcelona will have to pay Liverpool just £4.2million to sign Pepe Reina in the summer, according to talkSPORT.

The La Liga club are set to move for a new goalkeeper in the summer, with current number one Victor Valdes likely to leave at the end of the season.

And it seems Liverpool’s Reina is high on their list of possible replacements, with the 31-year-old almost certain to leave the Reds on a permanent deal in the summer.

Reina is currently on a season long loan with Napoli, but has consistently been linked with a return to Barcelona over the last few years.

And reports in Spain suggest Reina has reached an agreement with Liverpool to leave the club for good next summer, following the arrival of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland.

Senior officials at Liverpool are ready to make Reina’s exit as simple as possible, by offering the keeper to Barcelona for a cut price fee, with half payable next summer, and the rest to be paid in the summer of 2015.

Barcelona have also been linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach youngster Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, but Reina remains the preferred option due to his experience and familiarity with the club’s style of play.

Reina managed 285 Premier League appearances for the Reds after signing from Villarreal in the summer of 2005.
