The 18-year-old made 24 league appearances last season, but it seems Sterling’s chances of playing first team football have been limited after the Reds signed Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto this summer. Manager Brendan Rodgers is set to send the youngster on loan to gain more playing time with the Hammers.
Sterling will be one of many Reds players loaned out this season, joining the likes of Suso who joined Almeria, and Pepe Reina who is spending the season at Napoli. But Rodgers wants the English starlet to move to a Premier League side in order to learn how to play against English teams.
With just two league goals to his name, Sterling looks set to reunite with former Red Andy Carroll, who secured a permanent move to the Hammers earlier this summer. He could also team up with Stewart Downing, who has been heavily linked with a £5million move to Upton Park.
Sterling could still feature in Liverpool’s opening fixture of the new Premier League season against Stoke on Saturday.
Should Liverpool let Sterling go on loan? Are there first team opportunities there at Anfield?
