Liverpool are monitoring Barcelona’s Adriano Correia as they look to snap up a new left-back this summer, according to reports from The Metro.

Reds chief Brendan Rodgers is believed to have made a replacement for Jose Enrique a priority heading into the new transfer window, as he looks to build a squad capable of competing for next season’s Premier League title.

Although the ex-Newcastle man has been solid since arriving at Anfield, there are doubts surrounding his positional discipline and fitness for some time.

On loan back-up man Aly Cissokho is also unlikely to be kept, while other stand-ins such as Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan are more comfortable on the right-hand side.

Adriano is believed to be seen as a solution to the issue by Rodgers, who is an admirer of the Brazilian international.

The 29-year-old has struggled for first-team action at the Nou Camp since the arrival of Jordi Alba, and is believed to be growing discontented with a back-up role.

Rodgers is said to be willing to splash £6m to lure him to England, and could well get his man for such a fee.

Adriano possesses a wealth of experience after establishing himself in his homeland with Cortiba before spending five years at Sevilla.
