Liverpool are ready to firm up their interest in Hoffenheim star Roberto Fermino, according to reports from The Metro.

After a good start to the season, Reds chief Brendan Rodgers is confident of securing a top four finish giving passage into the Champions League and is ready to use the financial gain to lure top level European footballers to bolster his squad.

Although defensive reinforcements are seen as a priority, the Anfield boss is keen to further strengthen his fearsome attack – which has netted the most goals in the Premier League this season with a tally of 70 – and sees Fermino as a wise addition.

The Brazilian ace has been in electric form in the Bundesliga this term, with his mix of pace and trickery having made him a nightmare for defenders up and down the division.

At just 22-years-of-age, the South American meets the club’s policy of buying young, and could be an alternative to Yevhen Konoplyanka – whom they almost signed from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in January.

Hoffenheim value their man highly, but it is thought that an offer of around £12m will be reluctantly accepted.

Fermino himself may be keen on the move as he plots to force his way into the Brazilian squad.
