Liverpool could face a battle with Serie A clubs for the signature of Verona’s 21 year-old playmaker Jorginho, talkSPORT has reported.

The midfielder, who has scored three goals in seven games so far this season, has caught the eye of both Milan and Fiorentina, with the latter pondering a £10m bid for the Brazilian according to Italian sources.

Liverpool have also been linked with moves for Atletico Madrid’s Koke and former player Xabi Alonso in recent days and boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be desperate to increase his creative options in midfield after missing out on summer targets Willian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Reds may then be keen to bolster their squad come January and Jorginho’s impressive form in his first campaign could see him fit the bill at Anfield.

However, it seems Verona’s Serie A rivals are unwilling to let him leave Italy without a fight and would be prepared to test the Merseysiders’ resolve should they decide to make a bid.
