Since establishing himself as a solid member of Atletico Madrid’s triumphant La Liga winning team last season, Arda Turan has certainly proved himself a star worthy of playing at the very top. Alongside the likes of Diego Costa, Koke and Thibaut Courtois, the 28-year-old Turkish international provided a strong foundation for Diego Simeone to develop his current Atleti side into one of Europe’s very best.

As fortunes seem to change dramatically so quickly in today’s modern footballing climate however, the creative midfielder has since been the subject of stringent speculation over his future at the Vicente Calderon. Liverpool, among others, have supposedly registered a serious interest in landing the no. 10 - with the player himself said to be growing increasingly ‘unhappy at Atletico Madrid’ in light of the recent developments.

With some thoughts already turning to the summer transfer window during the tail end of this league campaign, just how successful would Arda Turan prove to be in English football, and to what extent could the Atletico man help Brendan Rodgers restore his current Liverpool side into one of Europe’s most formidable teams?

For one thing, Simeone’s technical winger certainly wouldn’t struggle to fit in with the style of football trying to be emulated under Rodgers. Turan is blessed with a close control that most mangers would love to have on board – he is surprisingly quick with the ball at his feet, seemingly never scared to take on even the most confident of defenders, and as well as a keen desire to send the ball into the back of the net, the La Liga man often proves to be the orchestrator of his side’s efficient attacking movement..

Perhaps if the no.10 were of a more renowned sporting nation, such as Brazil or Spain, it could be argued that the Turkish international would receive a great deal more praise within the widespread European footballing community.

Such an asset would therefore seem perfect for the Premier League. Whilst Atletico would surely be hesitant on letting the playmaker leave so rapidly, the signs also look positive for Arda Turan should he decide to move to Anfield in the near future. Playing among Liverpool’s current batch of technically adept stars – including Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho and Lazar Markovic – the Reds would certainly find themselves with a pretty strong attacking set-up with the Turkish star on board.

As the winger has also reportedly claimed Liverpool to be his ‘dream team’ in the past – the wheels may already be in motion for the transfer even at this early stage.

Speaking before he left Galatasaray in 2011, Turan has revealed a great deal more on the subject: “Liverpool attracts me because of their tradition. In Europe, I am a Liverpool supporter, so if I go to play in Europe, I would like to play for them.”

In light of all this, Brendan Rodgers may find his supposed target easier to sign than perhaps he initially expected, even if the current Atletico Madrid man is rumoured to be valued at around £25 million by the high-flying La Liga club. When the form of Atleti's newly acquired French international, Antonie Griezmann, is taken into account however, maybe Diego Simeone will be willing to sacrifice the Liverpool target in order to source funds for an even more ambitious venture.

As a large portion of the 2014/15 campaign remains to be decided however, perhaps speculating about this specific deal does seem slightly premature at this early stage – even if all the signs happen to look positive for Liverpool in their quest to regain their team's dominant form of last season.
