Simon Mignolet may have endured the occasional wobbler this season – in fact, his five mistakes leading to goals are more than any other Premier League keeper – but overall, Liverpool’s £9million deal for the Belgium international from last summer has worked out well.
The 26 year-old has provided a refreshing change from the flap-happy services of former Anfield No.1 Pepe Reina this season. And although Mignolet may not quite be at the level of David De Gea, Joe Hart or Petr Cech just yet, he’s certainly not too far off.
Reds goalie legend Bruce Grobbelaar however, who admittedly, knows a lot more about goalkeeping than me, feels that the former Sunderland shot-stopper is Liverpool’s weakest link. Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in an experienced understudy who can compete with Mignolet.
