Liverpool could only manage a slender 2-1 win over Sunderland on Wednesday night, despite many fans expecting a another goal glut against the Premier League strugglers.
The Black Cats pulled a goal back after falling two goals behind, meaning for a nervy finish for everyone before the final whistle was eventually blown.
The Reds led 2-0 with goals coming from Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge before a 76th minute header from Sung-Yueng Ki made it a nervy 14 minutes for the hosts. The win eventually put Liverpool in to second place a point behind leaders Chelsea.
With Manchester City having two games in hand, it’s almost impossible to guess who will clinch the title this season. The title race is down to the wire this season as ever game is considered a cup final with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City all in fierce competition.
Below are some of the tweets from Anfield as Liverpool fans react after the final whistle. Maybe it will go down to the final kick of the final game of the league, similar to the heart stopping moment from City two seasons ago.
Still seems so surreal that we are STILL in the title race #LFC

Not pretty but we won & that is THE ONLY thing that matters. 7th win in a row and the dream is still very much alive. Bring on Sunday..
