On loan Liverpool forward Andy Carroll

Newcastle are ready to make a cut-price move to take former striker Andy Carroll back to St James’ Park at the end of the season, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Reds are already staring at a substantial loss on the player they paid £35m for when they bought him from the Geordies back in 2011 with a proposed £17m move to West Ham in doubt because of the new financial fair play rules.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce said on Monday: “I might not be able to afford Andy Carroll, full stop, even if I wanted him, even if the chairmen wanted him, even if we all wanted him – which we do – it will not be allowed to happen.”

Now it’s thought that Newcastle may offer their former star an escape route back up to the north east but they are looking to take advantage of Liverpool’s reluctance to keep him by offering just a paltry £10m for the striker.
