Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has insisted that he is happy to stay with the club, despite rumours surrounding his future.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield this season, with some suggesting that manager Brendan Rodgers is unconvinced by the stopper, who has endured a shaky season so far.

With Barcelona number one Victor Valdes declaring that he will not be signing a new contract with the Nou Camp-based outfit, speculation of Reina being drafted in as a replacement has increased.

The 30-year-old began his career with the Catalans, before moving onto Villarreal and eventually Liverpool.

However, despite his close ties with the club, Reina insists that a move to Barca is out of the question and that he is fully committed to his current club:

"Barcelona are the best club in the world. I was formed there both as a player and as a person," he is quoted by talkSPORT via Movistar.

"It's a surprise Valdes wants to leave. Rumours about me replacing him? I've a contract at Liverpool until 2016 and I want to fulfil it."

Barca have also been linked with Manchester United’s David de Gea, who has failed to impress following his 2011 move from Atletico Madrid.

The Red devils are believed to willing to sell the 22-year-old, with Stoke’s Asmir Begovic being lined up as a replacement.
