Reds target advised to stay with German giants

Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri has ben urged to stay at Bayern Munich by his national team boss, reports Sky Sports.

Switzerland manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has urged Shaqiri to ignore the interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, and stay with Bayern Munich, who have already sealed the Bundesliga title this season:

“I am always a fan of players staying firm to ongoing deals and bite through tough times,” said Hitzfeld “Xherdan Shaqiri is playing for the best club in the world and has the quality to be a first-team regular. The only thing he needs is to be patient.”

Shaqiri has made 15 league appearances for Bayern this season, scoring 5 goals, but has only made it on to the pitch in 3 Champions League games, as Bayern aim to defend their title.

With the Premier League duo hoping to lure Shaqiri away from the Allianz Arena with more regular first team football, Bayern director of sport Mattias Sammer has stated the Swiss star won’t be sold: “Xherdan Shaqiri is able to play in various positions and he is an important player for the future of this club. We do not consider a transfer in this case,” he said.”

Bayern face Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Champions League next month.
