After spending the last week trying to negotiate Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez into a deal that will see Luis Suarez move the other way for a reported £80million, it appears Liverpool have given up in their pursuit of the Chile international as he moves ever-closer to Premier League rivals Arsenal.

But with two months of the summer transfer window remaining, Brendan Rodgers has more than enough time to source an adequate alternative to the 25 year-old, who claimed an impressive 21 goals and 15 assists in 54 appearances last season.
