According to the ever-reliable Daily Mail, following his impressive display in the Europa League final, Liverpool are set to launch a swoop for Sevilla starlet Alberto Monero.

With Jose Enrique a rather ordinary defender and Aly Cissokho’s loan spell unlikely to become a permanent deal at Anfield, the highly-rated Spaniard would certainly address the Reds’ need for a new left-back ahead of next season.

But with the Merseysiders returning to Champions League football for the first time since 2009 next term, it’s unlikely the £20million-rated full-back will be Brendan Rodgers’ only major acquisition this summer.

With that in mind, here’s a list of SIX Liverpool targets who could quickly follow Monero to Anfield in the coming transfer window.

Even with his unfortunate battle with injury, Lucas has had more than enough time and opportunity to really make a impact on the midfield. There is no doubting his enthusiasm, but unfortunately that only brings you part of the way. His shooting and goal scoring numbers are woeful and his ability to control himself without giving fouls leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t like to compare but you look at the impact that his fellow countryman Coutinho has made in his first season and it is impossible not to see the divide in quality. Sorry Lucas, I believe your time has passed.
