Alberto Moreno could soon find himself joined at Anfield by Sevilla team-mate and reported Premier League target Federico Fazio.
The Argentine centre-back has just ended the strongest campaign of his career, playing a major role in Los Palanganos claiming this season’s Europa League title by recording a clean sheet in the tournament’s final.
Measuring in at 6 foot 5 whilst averaging 3.2 interceptions and 4.4 successful aerial duels per match, the 27 year-old comes with a commanding, monolithic presence. But also capable of playing in defensive midfield, he offers comfort in possession – something which will strongly appeal to Brendan Rodgers.
Liverpool finished the season with the worst goals conceded record in the Premier League’s top nine, and with rumours rife that Daniel Agger could be sold this summer, the South American would certainly be a suitable replacement.
Boasting a miserly £8million release clause, Fazio certainly strikes value for money. And interestingly enough, his commonest role in the Sevilla first team is at left centre-back, next to Moreno.
