Liverpool were undoubtedly one of the best attacking forces in England – possibly Europe – last season with Suarez, Sterling, and Sturridge tearing defences with ease. However they always had to outscore their opponents, with the backline leaking in more goals than they should… costing them the Premier League title.
Reds stopper Simon Mignolet is a decent goalkeeper, but Nice shot-stopper David Ospina will be a step up compared to the Belgian man. Ospina was one of the undoubted stars of the French club, with his quick reflexes and saves pivotal in Nice’s 4th place finish (he finished the season with five Man of the Match awards).
Now he will get to star on the world’s biggest stage, with other clubs also interested in his services. His contract also expires this summer, meaning it would cost Liverpool absolutely nothing for him to man the Anfield posts… unless Arsenal swoop in first.
