Dejan Lovren is ready to turn his back on Southampton’s pre-season plans after seeing a £20m offer for his signature from Liverpool dismissed by the South Coast club, according to reports from the Daily Echo.
The Croatian centre-back is known to be a target for the Reds, and is understood to have requested a transfer despite having only been a Saints player for 12 months.
Liverpool have already snapped up Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert from St Mary’s Stadium, and now it is understood that a £20m offer for a third star from their first-team has been rejected.
Lovren is thought to have been angered by this, and is ready to snub the club’s pre-season plans to force an exit.
Reports suggest that the defender and his employers agreed that £20m would be enough to free him from his contract, but despite the Merseysiders offering the sum, Southampton have held firm.
The Hampshire outfit have already lost a host of players, and are determined to stop flow.
Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested in the silky enforcer, which may prompt a bidding war.
