Liverpool owner John W Henry believes that it was the right time for the club and Luis Suarez to part company this summer.
The Reds sold their star forward to Barcelona for an eye-watering £75m a few weeks ago ending his three and a half year stint at Anfield.
Despite his latest biting controversy at the World Cup, some Kopites have been left upset by the decision to offload their 31 Premier League goalscorer of last season, with the player himself considered to be one of the very best attackers on the planet.
Liverpool have since moved to invest over £60m in fresh players, and are expected to take their spending above £100m before the transfer window closes.
Even though Suarez is undoubtedly one of best strikers around, Henry feels that it was the right time to sell and that the club’s attack will still be “explosive” next season:
“It was time for Luis and time for the club to make a break.” He is quoted by the London Evening Standard.
“He brought so much to the club but we brought a lot to Luis.
“[Without him] I think you will still see a very explosive Liverpool offense.”
Liverpool lost a pre-season friendly in Boston to Roma last night.
