Just a matter of days after laughing at Manchester United for a 2-2 draw with lowly Fulham, Liverpool fans looked set for the same fate this evening. After trailing the Cottagers twice, the Reds were about to have to settle for a point until a clumsy Sascha Riether challenge on Daniel Sturridge teed up Steven Gerrard for a match-winning penalty in injury time. Even on a night when they were far from their best, Liverpool still showed why they are one of the most talked about sides in European football at the moment. Here are three reasons why the Anfielders are so exciting to watch:

Calamitous defending – Kolo Toure threw away points with a silly back pass at West Brom, and tonight hit a he hit a funny OG

Goals, goals, goals! Daniel Sturridge’s first-half goal means that the Reds have now netted more times in the opening 45 minutes of games (43) this Premier League season than Manchester United have in total (41)
They can leave it late – Steven Gerrard netted a vital injury time penalty to salvage three points for the Reds. As we know, late goals are all the more exciting!
