Heading into their trip to Southampton some were predicting dropped points for high-flying Liverpool, who have traditionally struggled against their South Coast foes. However, a 3-0 win moved them to second in the Premier League and four points off of leaders Chelsea. Although it was a good team performance, Luis Suarez stole the show with another fine display under the floodlights. After netting the opener, the Uruguayan set up Raheem Sterling before winning the late penalty Steven Gerrard converted. Now he tops the scoring and assists charts in English football’s top tier, and here are three reasons we think he’s the best player on show in the division.

Composed finisher

Work rate

Goals mean nothing without hard work in the modern game, and Suarez is a constant menace to opposition defenders.

He can assist too

As well as through goals, Suarez is proving his worth with assists, and showed again his cool edge by laying on Sterling’s effort. https://vine.co/v/MKxEIQQ1dje/embed/simple
