Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool have joined Ajax in the race to sign Dutch starlet Richairo Zivkovic, according to talkSPORT.

The Groningen wonder-kid has been labelled the ‘new Robben’ in his homeland, after a string of impressive performances.

He became the youngest player to debut in Eredivisie history, when he made his first appearance as a 16-year-old in 2012.

The 17-year-old’s performances have since alerted several European giants, including Barcelona and Paris St Germain, whilst Liverpool and Manchester City have both been credited with an interest.

But Dutch giants Ajax have also entered the race, with Director of football and former Gunners star Marc Overmars admitting they have Zivkovic in mind for next season.

“Zivkovic? He is an interesting player that we are following,” Overmars told Voetbal International. “Thinking about possible reinforcements for next season, our preference is for Dutch players.”

Zivkovic is under contract with Groningen until 2016, so may yet demand an excessive transfer fee for someone so young.

He has managed five league goals this season, and has represented his country at Under-19 level.
