Man United and Chelsea in £15m battle for Brazilian star

Manchester United and Chelsea are set to battle it out for the signature of Brazilian left back Alex Sandro, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Porto defender has reportedly emerged as David Moyes first choice to replace Patrice Evra, who is set to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, reports also suggest that Jose Mourinho is planning a summer swoop for the talented 23-year-old.

Chelsea are also looking to sign a new left back in the summer, with Ashley Cole set to leave at the end of the season on a free transfer, whilst Cesar Azpilicueta is considered more of a natural right back.

Both clubs have been heavily linked with a move for Southampton’s 18-year-old full back Luke Shaw, however Southampton are demanding a fee in excess of £30million for England’s latest debutant.

Sandro will offer a cheaper alternative to both clubs, with Porto reportedly willing to do business for around £15million.

Sandro has been a consistent performer for Porto since his arrival in 2011, winning two league titles at the Estadio Dragao.

He has won six caps for Brazil, and could be a contender for a place in Luis Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad this summer.
