Napoli star Marek Hamsik could spark a transfer tug of war between Manchester United and Chelsea, if he opts to leave Napoli due to the lack of playing time under former Blues boss Rafa Benitez, according to the Express.
Hamisk is contracted to the Italian giants until 2018, but could go in search of a new challenge at the end of the season after repeatedly being overlooked by Benitez.
The 26-year-old has spent the last seven seasons at Napoli, but the club are willing to listen to offers for him should Benitez confirm he does not see him as a part of his plans.
That could open the door for Manchester United or Chelsea to make a move, with former Napoli boss Gianni Di Marzio thinking the forward will push for a move unless Benitez is replaced.
Di Marzo told Kiss Kiss Radio: “Should Benitez remain [Hamsik] will be the first to be sold in the summer.”
The Premier League duo may have to fight off interest from French moneybags Paris Saint-Germain however, with the club also linked with a move for the £25million rated star.
Hamsik has made 22 starts in all competitions for Napoli this season, scoring six goals.
