Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero believes that Sunday’s 4-0 FA Cup win over Leeds will help them get their Premier League season back on track.

The Sky Blues’ stuttering form has seen them slip 12 points behind local rivals Manchester United at the top of the table, with only 12 games left to play.

After a disappointing result against Southampton last week, City bounced back against Leeds to book a spot in the quarter finals.

Aguero is hopeful that the victory will kick-start their pursuit of the title, starting with a positive performances against Chelsea on Sunday:

"This helped us to do things well and give us confidence for the Chelsea game. It will be a good match, difficult, but obviously we need to go out and win.” He is quoted by Sky Sports via City TV.

"I think against Southampton none of us played well and it was a bad day for us all - an error which we hope not to repeat.

"We will try not to lose any more points in the league so we can keep all three points. I think we've played well and reached the next round. We need to continue like this."

Aguero netted twice against Leeds to help his side achieve a 4-0 score line.

The Argentine was content with his own performance, but was even happier to advance to the last eight of the tournament:

"Yes, they were two good goals but the most important thing was they helped us to win. So I'm happy for the goals and for the win.

"I really like this cup, played as a single leg. Obviously if we maintain our concentration, I think we have a team that can reach the final."

Aguero has endured an injury hit start to the season, but has still managed to net nine league goals.
