Former Manchester United star and six time Premier League champion, David Beckham believes Jose Mourinho’s recent experience with winning titles can help push Chelsea over the line.
Speaking to ESPN, Beckham pointed to the effect that Mourinho’s presence has on Chelsea.
“As a Manchester United fan, I’ve been watching City, and City play some great football,” Beckham said.
“They’re a strong team. They’ve got a strong unit but personally, seeing Jose Mourinho going back to Chelsea… there’s something about Jose and Chelsea that not many other clubs have.
“He’s won championships, he knows how to win championships, he knows how to win trophies, and he’s not just a great manager, he’s a strong personality as well. Some people can’t compete with that.”
Beckham also lauded Arsenal and Liverpool for their form this season, but doesn’t seem to rate their chances in the title race.
“Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, strong team, great manager, great players,” he added.
“Obviously Liverpool are having a pretty good season as well. But Chelsea, Man City, Pellegrini… I think is a great manager, so we’ll see.”
With two thirds of the season gone, it is Arsenal who lead the pack with 55 points, two ahead of Chelsea and Man City, with only goal difference separating the two.
