A worrying story for Manchester City fans has emerged in the papers today, with The Mirror suggesting Pep Guardiola could axe the Argentine striker.

Aguero has become a legendary figure at the Etihad Stadium after scoring the decisive goal as they lifted the Premier League title in 2012, while contributing to every success that the Citizens have had since. He also leads the all-time scoring charts in the Premier League for the club.

However, Pep Guardiola dropped the striker for the midweek defeat to Barcelona, which was seen as a strange decision by many, and the South American has had his name linked with an exit since - with suggestions that City will go all-out for a new forward, or utilise Brazilian Gabriel Jesus when he arrives in January.

Naturally, fans are extremely concerned that Guardiola could axe a favourite but it wouldn't be a surprising move, with the former Barcelona boss already sending Joe Hart on-loan to Torino, shipping Samir Nasri off to Sevilla and ousting Yaya Toure from the first-team set-up.

Major question marks would be raised if Aguero were to leave and given the fact that City are on a winless run of four matches in all competitions, it's probably the worst time for these sorts of reports to emerge...
