Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has scrapped talk that his side are poised to make a sensation offer for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
Despite missing out on the last Ballon d’Or award earlier this year, the Argentine is widely hailed as the finest player on the planet thanks to his wonderful form in recent times with the La Liga giants.
However, with the club going through a period of great change both on and off of the field, rumours have begun to circulate that the skilful attacker is growing unsettled.
As one of the only teams on the planet able to fund a move for Messi, City have been linked with his signature over the course of the season, with some suggestions that a massive offer will be made in the summer circulating.
Sky Blues star Pablo Zabaleta has also fuelled the fire by openly encouraging his compatriot to join him in what would be one of the biggest deals of all time.
However, when asked about the possibility of a swoop for Messi, Pellegrini is quoted as saying by The Metro that there is no truth to the talk:
“Just rumours,” he said.
Paris Saint-Germain are another side to have been linked with the Barca ace.
