The Sky Blues put the odds back in their favour yesterday with a routine 2-0 victory away at Crystal Palace to take advantage of Liverpool’s loss at home to Chelsea just moments before kick-off Selhurst Park.
City still trail the Reds by three points, but with a game in hand and a superior goal difference they are likely to finish the season at the top of the pile if they collect nine points from their final three fixtures.
When questioned by Sky Sports on whether or not he sees his side as favourites, Pellegrini said:
“In football there are not favourites.
“Liverpool have three points more than us and we have one game in hand that we must win, so I think that nobody is favourites.
“Now it depends again on what we can do. We lost that chance when we lost the game against Liverpool.”
City face a tricky trip to Everton next weekend before hosting Aston Villa and West Ham to round off the season.
Liverpool on the other hand take on Crystal Palace away before a final day of the season tie at Anfield against Newcastle.
Chelsea are also in the race, but the Blues rely on both other sides in the battle dropping points.
