According to reports in The Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola is ready to step up his interest in Fulham's teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon.

What's the word?

Manchester City have one of the best squads in the Premier League but a club of their size always have to keep an eye on the future and it seems they're doing just that with their interest in young Fulham left-back Sessegnon.

Just 16, the Daily Mail reports that City have been impressed with his progress this season, with the teenager having made the breakthrough into the first-team.

Fulham, they say, are keen in retaining their talent, though, reportedly already rejecting a £3m advance from Arsenal last January.

Sessegnon is one of a number of talented kids to emerge from Fulham in recent years with Patrick Roberts and Moussa Dembele two that have gone on to play Champions League football with Celtic, both scoring in the competition this season.

Why the hype?

Sessegnon became the Championship's youngest ever goalscorer in August when he netted against Cardiff City. He also became the first player born in the 2000s to score in the English leagues full stop.

The young star is also a regular in England's U-17s set-up, playing a year group beyond his age to feature in the U-17 Euros. He is thought to have a bright future for both club and country.

Currently getting first-team football, staying at Fulham right now is probably best for his development as a player but that won't stop the Premier League's big boys from stealing a march on the competition and attempting to secure a talented prospect.
