Manchester City must rival Juventus for the signature of Porto midfielder Fernando, according to Tuttosport.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form this season, attracting interest from several suitors with Man City believed to be at the forefront.

A deal to take Fernando, alongside center back Eliaquim Mangala, to the Etihad Stadium on transfer deadline day was believed to have been on the cards, but the move failed to materialize.

Manuel Pelligrini is allegedly still keen on the Brazilian and will continue to monitor the player ahead of a potential summer swoop.

It is revealed now, however that Juventus may look to enter the race, should they need midfield reinforcements, despite key men Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba continuing to light up center stage and attract interest from Europe’s best.

Should one or both depart the Old Lady, Juventus may rely on Fernando, who will be available on a free transfer with his contract at Porto set to expire.

The player has shown good potential and as a free transfer, he would definitely come as a massive bargain for his eventual suitors.
