Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov is hoping for a return to Serie A, according to talkSPORT.

The full back was on target from the penalty spot as Manchester City picked up a surprise win over Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena on Tuesday evening, although that could perhaps prove to be one his last major contributions in a City shirt.

Kolarov played for Lazio before his switch to the Premier League, and has admitted he would like to someday return to Italy.

He has struggled for regular first team football at the Etihad, often competing with former Arsenal man Gael Clichy for the starting position at left back.

“I have a contract with City until 2015. I’m playing and I’m glad,” Kolarov told Mediaset.

“Someday I’d like to go back to Italy, it will happen when the time is appropriate.

“I have never had contact with anyone in the past, and I am always focused on City.

“I’m putting in the work and I’m playing more now. We’ll see what happens in the future.”

Juventus have been linked with a possible move for the 28-year-old, who has been at City since 2010.

The Serbian international has made a total of 67 league appearances for the club, scoring four goals in the process.
