Joe Hart has admitted he is still coming to terms with the fact that he was dropped by manager Manuel Pellegrini earlier in the season, reports the Daily Mirror.
Hart was axed earlier in the season after a string of high profile errors, but has since recovered to reclaim his number one shirt.
But the England goalkeeper admitted the situation damaged his confidence somewhat, although the 26-year-old reckons it has prepared him for similar disappointments in the future.
Asked if he had changed as a result of the experience, Hart replied: “It’s tough to say because that’s probably one of the main reasons I’ve not really spoken about it.
“I don’t feel it’s a case of that side of things being really solved. I’m still training hard – as I would be whether I was in or out of the team – and I’m always working to improve my game.
“I don’t want it to seem as though everything is fine or that it was part of my life that I will forget because I’m still living it and I am trying to live in the moment more recently.
“We’re going to get some wonderful opportunities – some I will be playing in, some that I won’t – and I’m just trying to look at things the best I can.
“I think the City fans treat me great whether I’m playing or not. We’ve been together a long time now and I, for one, will never forget that.”
