Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo has been ruled out for up to three months with a fractured metatarsal, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Spaniard had played 45 minutes against Hearts in a pre-season friendly on Saturday but revealed his injury via his Instagram account, where he admitted the coming months would be “hard.”

The 28-year-old has increasingly linked with a move away from the Etihad this summer, despite enjoying a successful debut season at the club after netting 23 goals.

But the forward put to bed any rumours of an exit via the club’s official TV channel recently.

He said:  “I don’t want to leave City. I’m very happy and very settled here.

“I had a difficult end to the season and that’s why there has been a lot of talking but I’ve been very happy here from the first day I arrived.”

The Premier League champions have been unusually quiet so far this summer, despite bringing in four new faces for a combined fee of around £22million.
