Sergio Aguero is winning his race to be fit for Sunday’s Capital One Cup Final clash with Sunderland, according to the Express.
Manchester City’s top scorer has missed the last five games with a hamstring problem, but trained with the rest of the squad yesterday and is expected to be fit for Sunday’s Wembley showdown.
The news will come as a huge boost for City as they look to lift the first of four trophies they are chasing this season.
In the five games Aguero has missed, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have only managed to fire three goals, with Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo both going off the boil.
City’s fourth choice striker Stevan Jovetic is likely to miss the game however, as he missed training yesterday with a hamstring strain picked up when coming on as a substitute against Stoke City on Saturday.
Meanwhile, City are looking to reward midfielder Samir Nasri for his impressive displays this season with a new contract.
The former Arsenal man is set to follow the likes of Vincent Kompany, Aguero and David Silva in penning a new deal if an agreement can be reached.
The 26-year-old has flourished under Manuel Pellegrini this season, having previously struggled after falling out with former boss Roberto Mancini.
