Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has urged his team-mates to stay composed after their home loss to Chelsea on Monday night.

The Sky Blues lost their 100% Premier League home record at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s men, who moved level on points with them at the final whistle.

City’s inability to score also came as a blow, with the side that has already netted over 100 goals this term losing a home goal-scoring record that started way back in 2010.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are still firmly in the battle for the title despite the result, and Zabaleta believes that his side must stay calm to keep themselves in the race:

"We were a little bit frustrated by the result but this is football. Sometimes you can lose games.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.

"We can learn from mistakes and we see how difficult the Premier League is at the moment. Every game is very difficult.

"We need to keep calm. I think the manager is clever enough to work during the week and show to us on video what we did wrong and try to do well next game.

"It was one of those games that we didn't do our stuff. It was an important game for us to get three points and be back on top of the league.

"We need to think and be positive now and review the game, just to see all the mistakes and try not to make them again. Sometimes when you lose one game it is terrible, but we must be stronger than ever.”

City’s next encounter is a trip to Norwich, who sit just two points clear of the relegation zone in a crowded bottom half of the league.
