Gerard Deulofeu looks set to snub a move to Man City after the youngster's agent revealed he wanted to stay with Barcelona.

The 19-year-old was recommended to the FA Cup finalists by former Barca director Txiki Begiristain, who now works in a similar role at the Etihad Stadium.

City were thought to be ready to activate a €8.1million release clause in the winger's contract and were ready to offer him a double-your-money deal in order to persuade him to move to England.

Having recently reached an impasse in talks with Barcelona, City's chances of securing the highly-rated product of La Masia looked to be good.

However, his agent has now said that his client wants to remain at Camp Nou and expects him to pen a new contract shortly.

"I don't think there will be any problem sorting out a renewal here [at Barcelona] when the club wants to talk about it again," confirmed Deulofeu's representative, Gines Carvajal, in an interview with Radio Marca.
