Manchester City are preparing a summer move for Saint-Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Gabon international has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs in recent times, with Newcastle believed to be highly interested.

But, City are now set to enter the race for his signature as manager Roberto Mancini prepares to overhaul his squad at the end of the season.

With Mario Balotelli having left last month, the Italian has only three senior strikers to compete in all competitions.

This has prompted rumours that a front-man is his major target, with Aubameyang fitting his specification.

The 23-year-old can play all across the front line, combining pace and trickery with lethal accuracy in front of goal.

These skills have seen him notch 18 goals this term, helping his side move up to sixth position in the French top flight.

Saint-Etienne are by no mean desperate to sell their star man, but are believed to be willing to accept a figure of around £10m.

Reports suggest that City have already sent scouts to watch the Aubameyang first hand and that they have contacted his club.

He has gained a reputation as rather a ‘flash’ player after wearing a pair of crystal covered boots in December.
