Manchester City are believed to be keen to sign young goalkeeping propsect Mattia Perin according to Talksport.

The 19-year-old keeper is currently on loan at Pescara, with his parent club being Genoa, and the Italian has been capped internationally for his country from the U17 side through to U21s.

Premier League Champions City are not the only club thought to be holding an interest in the ace, with Roma also showing admiring glances following a number of impressive displays.

Last season he also had a loan spell at Padova, in which he again caught the eye, and his current loan spell has done no harm in increasing his ever growing reputation.

It is thought that Mancini favours bringing his fellow countryman to the Etihad stadium to provide additional competition to Joe Hart for the number one position.

Perin has also been called up to the senior national squad and sat on the bench for Italy’s 2-1 loss to England, in Bern, in August.

Following a quiet summer transfer window by their standards, Mancini is thought to be scouting Europe for the top developing players and Perrin’s rise has been no secret.

City are reckoned to have already taken preliminary steps in sealing the deal for the starlet having sounded out a move with Genoa.

The deal could happen as soon as January with City looking to continue their youth recruitment drive before the new financial fair play rules are stringently put in place.

It is yet to be seen whether Perin would favour a move abroad, or if he would prefer to stay in Italy and move to Roma.
