Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has sent out a warning to Manchester City ahead of their Champions League semi-final first leg this week by claiming that they are confident of booking a slot in the final.

The Citizens face the 10-time European Champions in their first ever European Cup semi-finals in what is expected to be a glamorous event, but Bale believes the La Liga giants will put the Sky Blues to the sword on Tuesday.

The Welsh international was brilliant during the weekend, scoring a brace to help Real come from two goals down to beat Rayo Vallecano and keep up the pace with league leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

But ahead of Bale’s first clash against English opposition since his £85million move from Tottenham Hotspur to the Santiago Bernabeu back in 2013, the winger is confident Real can get the better of Man City this week.

“We know they are a very tough team to beat but we will be going there to win the game and get into the final." he is quoted by The Sun.

“We would have preferred an easier win at Rayo. But the main thing is that we got a victory and wins build confidence. The manner of the victory really showed the character that we have in the squad.

“The last few months we have really brought ourselves back into the title race and we have got ourselves into the Champions League semi-finals. Confidence is high because of that and hopefully that can take us forward.

“I loved playing in the Premier League and I always still watch it. It will be great to go back but the most important thing is that we come back with the win.”

The 26-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists.
