As often in Champions League clashes, when Manchester City visited Barcelona at the Nou Camp this evening, the referee took centre-stage.
In the opening minutes, perhaps out of sympathy, he let a struggling Joleon Lescott get away with this clumsy challenge on Lionel Messi inside the box.
The absurdity continued later in the game, as refereee Stephane Lannoy sent off Pablo Zabaleta for protesting against an obvious penalty – this time for the Etihad side- not being awarded. Judge for yourself;
Referee destroyed what was a fantastic game from both teams, wish they’d stop diving but well done city we were great tonight #mcfc
