Manchester City‘s Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona last night was least of everyone’s worries following a number of poor refereeing decisions at Camp Nou.
When Edin Dzeko was brought down via a Gerard Pique tackle in the penalty box, the referee denied them a much needed penalty. To make things worse, Pablo Zabaleta was then given a red card for dissent as he expressed his anger another suspect decision.
And referee Stephene Lannoy’s performance was that bad it didn’t slip under the radar even the most casual of football fans…
The referee has a Performance Score of -283 so far tonight, worse than any other performance this season.

Not saying it wasn’t a PK for Man City. I’m saying the ref is awful and no one can expect good decisions from him.

It’s not favouring Barca, it’s just referees being shit as usual. Messi should have had a pen and Neymar had a goal wrongly ruled out. — Rich Laverty (@JournoRich) March 12, 2014
UCL refereeing really is pathetic in general these days. Robotically officious and over-involved

I refuse to believe this referee is dishonest. I just think he’s incompetent.

And people were asking why France don’t have any referees at the World Cup in Brazil…
