Yaya Toure believes Manchester City have what it takes to win the Champions League this season. ESPN reports.

City were handed a brutal introduction to this season’s competition, losing 3-2 to Real Madrid despite being 2-1 up with five minutes left on the clock.

But Toure is confident City have a squad that are capable of going all the way this season.

He said: "With these kinds of players, I think we can go far and win this competition.

"We want to get through to the second round. We have to get as many points as possible because we know we are in a difficult group with Madrid, Dortmund and Ajax.”

Roberto Mancini’s men host Borussia Dortmund tomorrow night and Toure feels the side will have to be at their very best to defeat the German champions.

"We need to improve and we need to work hard because Dortmund are a fantastic team. We play our first game in the Champions League at home, and we want to show the fans we made a mistake in Madrid," he added.

Dortmund began their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Ajax, meaning three points for City is all the more important

"The position we are in now is quite serious because we lost in Madrid," Toure claimed.
