Reports from the Daily Star suggest that, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton are battling for the signature of 15-year-old goalkeeper, Kjetil Haug, who has recently been labelled as the new Peter Schmeichel.

Haug, who plays for Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08, managed by former Sheffield United and Leeds United striker Brian Deane, recently had a trial with the Red Devils last month, but, despite being a huge United fan, Haug said that he is open to join any of the English clubs who have been linked with him, with Arsenal being the next club to try and get the youngster on a trial.

"I talked a lot with Anders Lindegaard. He gave me lots of good advice about a possible transfer," Haug said.

"We also had lunch with several other United players and David Moyes. Moyes sat down next to me. It was very fun. It was very special to be on trial at United since I am a supporter myself.

"United is in that respect very well received when I decide on my future. But that they are closest to my heart does not mean anything. The most important thing is the sporting challenge and the entire package that the club offer me."

When being compared to one of the best goalkeepers to have ever played the game, the 15 year old was flattered but coy over the prospects of meeting the former Premier League stopper's career heights.

“It's quite special to be compared to one of the best keepers in the world ever," he added.

"But it is of course great and I am really honoured. He is one of my biggest role models.

"I'll be careful not to say too much about the similarities between us, but there are some. I have a physical style to my play as did Schmeichel. But there is obviously a long way to go before I get on his level."

If United were to sign him, he will face stiff competition from the likes of David de Gea,  Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos for the number one jersey.
