Arsenal have been given the green light to make January swoops for Valencia’s Ever Banega, after the midfielder’s agent confirmed that his client is looking to move on.
The Argentine playmaker has long been thought of as one of European football’s top emerging talents, but has struggled of late to hold down a regular starting berth under Los Che coach Miroslav Djukic.
This first-team exile has come at a bad time for Banega, who is hopeful of commanding a spot in his nation’s squad for the World Cup next year.
The 25-year-old’s agent, Marcelo Simonian, says that he is already in contact with other clubs regarding his client’s services ahead of a winter move.
“I can only tell you that we are already talking with several clubs in relation to the next window,” he is quoted by The Express.
“In the next few days I will be travelling to present all the options to Valencia.”
United chief David Moyes is known to be keen to add midfield reinforcements to his ranks after missing out on a number of targets over the summer, while Arsene Wenger is also open to drafting in more quality players to bolster his Arsenal engine room.
Meanwhile, Southampton coach Mauricio Pochettino is said to be monitoring the situation.
