Real Madrid attacker Angel Di Maria has moved to quash rumours that he could leave the club in January.
The Argentine ace has been heavily linked with a number of Premier League teams – including Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham – as well as Monaco of late after dropping down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.
Di Maria started the season as a key first-team player, but the return of Gareth Bale has seen him eased onto the bench by manager Carlo Ancelotti, who favours the Welshman and Cristiano Ronaldo on the flanks.
With the World Cup around the corner, speculation has suggested that the 25-year-old may be ready to quit Los Blancos for regular playing time, with competition for a spot in his desired role for his home nation high.
However, the South American says that there is no truth in suggestions that he is ready to leave, and that he is happy being a Real player:
“I’m happy at Real Madrid,” he is quoted by talkSPORT. “I have never asked for a (contract) renewal. A player who does not play is not going to ask for a renewal.
“My head is in Madrid. You (journalists) said that I was going to Tottenham. You know where this information came from.”
