The German international was heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League over the summer, however he elected to stay at the Bernabeu to fight for his place under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
But after initially struggling to establish himself in the Italian’s plans, Khedira is now enduring a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a cruciate ligament injury, which has scrapped any hopes of a January move away from Spain.
However, both Arsenal and United are still keen on the 26-year-old, and are ready to battle for his services at the end of the season.
Khedira will enter the final year of his contract in just over six months’ time, which will see his value vastly decrease – to around £20m – and force Real into a potential sale due to the risk of losing him for free.
United are, perhaps, in greater need of the ex-Stuttgart man’s services, with David Moyes currently struggling with and undermanned midfield.
However, Arsenal could steal him away from the champions due to his close friendship with former team-mate, and now Gunners idol, Mesut Ozil.
