Ryan Giggs has admitted he may be about to call time on a playing career, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 40-year-old has been a bit part player under David Moyes this season, and admitted he has played his final Champions League game for the club following last week’s elimination at the hands of Bayern Munich.
After 141 games in the Champions League for United – second only in appearances to Real Madrid legend Raul – Giggs admitted his race is virtually run with Manchester United and European football.
He said: “Will you see me in the Champions League again? No, probably not. It’s weird to think that, but I’ve no complaints.
“I’ve won the competition twice and played in four finals. Champions League nights have always been special nights for me.
“It’s a special competition. You’re up against the best.
“You get some group games that can be a little easier but once you come through to the latter stages you’re up against the big teams – and that’s when you really test yourself and when you’re really up for it.’’
Giggs also reckons Manchester United can rescue their season over the final five matches.
He said: “As long as it’s still possible to get a Champions League spot, we have to go for it.”
