Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will not be linking up with Holland star Arjen Robben at Old Trafford next season, according to the Bayern Munich player.
The Dutch boss is set to take charge of the Red Devils once his duties with the Holland national side end after the World Cup, and is expected to spend big in order to turn things around after the club’s woeful 2013/14 under David Moyes.
With around £200m to spend, one of LVG’s major targets is rumoured to be Robben – who is a star in his Oranje starting XI.
The flying winger – formerly of Chelsea – has been a key man at Bayern for some time, yet there have been rumours that he could be sold for a decent fee with his age now 30.
But the Champions League winning wide-man says that there is no chance of him swapping the Allianz Arena for the Theatre of Dreams:
“Manchester United? That’s not an option. I am staying at Bayern Munich. Period,” he told De Telegraaf.
“And I cannot imagine that Bayern would want to sell me. I have only just renewed my contract and we are happy with each other. It would have been a different story had I been unhappy.
“I would have been open to a move then, because I had a great time under Van Gaal at Bayern. He has been very important for my career. However, fact is that I am very happy at my current club.
“Van Gaal and [Pep] Guardiola are the best coaches I have ever worked with. I am feeling well and I’m going nowhere. There’s a zero per cent chance that I will join Manchester United.
“I think United did great to appoint Van Gaal.”
